A is for Alpaca
These are recently shorn Alpacas on an Alpaca farm on the Port au Port Penninsula, Newfoundland. The farm overlooks beautiful Bay St. George and is on the French Ancestors Route. They have beautiful, gentle looking eyes, but are rather comical looking with their long wooly coats clipped so short. The black one was particulary funny looking as his neck looked too skinny to support his big head.
Their wool is extremely soft, very similar to angora.

Oh, heavens .. yes, that black one with the white neck is extremely comical! LOL! Poor thing - he probably has no idea why people look at him and laugh!
I can't wear mohair or angora, they both drive me insane with itching - I wonder if alpaca would be better?
I hope it doesn't get too cold for them before their wool grows back!

Great visit with the Alpacas! They are very soft, but are they supposed to be mean? Maybe I'm thinking of camels.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. You are so much farther north than Chicago, maybe you can't grow astilbe. But you also have the longer days so I'll bet your flowers get HUGE! I notice a difference when I visit Door County in the upper portion of Wisconsin. The longer sunlight each day = bigger blooms! Love your flower pictures!
